Substance abuse counselling approach:

Our substance abuse counselling approach integrates psychotherapeutic addiction counselling with life skill development, coping skills-training techniques, emotional and mental wellness techniques.  Our primary goals are to develop and foster a relationship that promotes and sustains motivation for change, abstinence from all mood altering drugs and/or chemicals. Our therapeutic format is client centered empathetic and flexible to address the needs of the individual. We place a strong emphasis in developing a positive alliance in a nonjudgmental environment.

  • To develop, educate and teach new coping mechanisms
  • Educate the individual on how to break addictive cycles
  • Establish total abstinence from all mood altering drugs and/or chemicals
  • To develop a supportive role helping the individual troubleshoot, reflect and support them in implementing new behaviors or reactions

Timeline of addiction counselling and/or substance abuse treatment

The duration of substance abuse treatment can vary from client to client and are dependent on a number of factors. Our drug and alcohol counselling model is primarily focused at developing solution orientated movement. The length of the clients participation in the counselling role will of course vary and be largely dependent on ones motivation and willingness.

Substance abuse clinical assessment

Our substance abuse clinical assessment is largely to identify and to develop awareness of the overall client’s situation.  During the addiction clinical interview the counselors role is to clarify and expand on information already provided by the

  • Historical information of drug use
  • Medical history along with any concurring medical issues
  • Family history
  • Educational and vocational history
  • Criminal behaviors and involvement with the criminal justice system
  • Alcohol and drug treatment which would include alcohol and drug detox history
  • Systemic patterns, emotional triggers, mental triggers an overview of addiction cycle
  • Psychological functioning, coping patterns
  • Involvement with self-help, medical applications and other addiction services


Participants best suited for our alcohol and drug counselling approach

Our addiction counselling treatment is best suited for clients who have demonstrated a level of dependency which meets the criteria of social, chronic or habitual type of using patterns. Our addiction treatment is suitable for all types of chemical addiction/   alcoholism and cross addiction introspective of the client’s drug of choice example;  cocaine, alcohol, marijuana, heroin, etc.  Our private counselling model is based on a two-way street all participants need to have or demonstrate a level of willingness of change.

The role of the Addiction Counselor is to guide, educate, encourage, motivate, using a number of industry-standard skill sets such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention strategies, bio-psycho-social and other modalities of addiction treatment.

Participants that are not suitable for our drug and alcohol counselling approach

Candidates that are not suitable for this type of approach includes clients whose psychological functioning is impaired  to a level that makes the candidate unable to show for treatment sessions, who is actively suicidal, psychiatrically unstable and need a level full-time care.

    i really need the help. i really on alcohol to get rid of feelings and problems its become a daily thing , i have a drug problem, i need rehab its been years and im only 22. how much would it cost to stay a month in your program, its sad cause im drunk/high writing this and family has no idea. im very interest i really need this plz and thank you.plz help me. i dont want to be this person anymore. its been years and nobody has realized i need the help. but i do for my daughter and my life. (btw i dont do drug when around my child) i just dont want to be a bad example for her shes my world. my family knows about the alchol thats it….

      Keep trying I am the Mom of a 32 year old and she keeps trying to break the addiction drugs and alcohol and that is why I am writing do not give up, you can write to me if you like. I will keep trying to help my daughter to like and lover herself because she deserve to, just like you you deserve to like and love yourself. You are very unique and a very important person, I just want to say Don’t stop trying to find a better way!

  3. Hi Amanda, It sounds like an inpatient facility would be appropriate in your case. We can offer private one one one addiction therapy for Women, but we run a Men’s Only treatment centre.
