In many cases, we work with the support group to help break the dependency and understand the indirect and direct impact that the addict is having on them. General the support group has broken down and become dysfunctional, confused and angry towards the addict. Feelings of helplessness have become overwhelming and in most cases we see that the support system has become the enabler, trying to help the person to avoid consequences and trying desperately to take control over the direction of the person life.

This cycle is usually created out of a pure motive to help and support the individual out of this “temporary” rut. In most case our efforts prove to be successful and help the person back on track, “hopefully this will be the last time we say to ourselves”.
