Why I believe that we need to have drug rehab services that are aimed at dismantling the functions of addiction:
In my experience, I have witnessed all forms of addiction and the great effects it has on all, even those who stand on the outside. We never start with addiction in hand; it has an amazing ability to make promises and illusions so seductive it pulls us into its traps. Addiction is not so easily defined.
A commonality that is often associated with the word “addiction” is normally a picture of a person on skid-row drinking out of a paper bag or sticking a needle in their arm with open sores all over their face. The list goes on depending on ones exposure.
In fact, my experience has been quite the opposite; we “generally” work with individuals who often appear to be high functioning in many area’s of life which have mastered the ability to conceal the magnitude of their addiction, most times even to themselves.
We often hear from their loved-ones that they have witnessed behaviors of concern for quite sometime however; had no clue that the addition was at such serious stages of dependency.
Most interesting is that “addiction” is not just the drug or the drink. The definition in the Encarta Encyclopedia: Addiction is a habitual repetition of excessive behavior that a person is unable or unwilling to stop, despite its harmful consequences.
LDR Holistic Treatment Inc. believes in offering a spectrum of services aimed at dismantling the functions of addiction. We found that not one person can be treated with one approach. That it takes a dedicated team with creativity, experience and passion. We believe that treatment is multifaceted that needs to be flexible, personalized and built on a two-way street.
To the loved ones and the individuals out there struggling with addiction; you are not alone and there is another way!
